Beautifully restored over three years by Italian owner Barbara, this small four room boutique guesthouse is a delightful option for your stay in Miraflores. We loved the little touches like the business cards in the woven bunny basket and the room keys elegantly displayed like art on a wooden tray.

The four rooms are all large and spacious with good linen and beds. Wifi, in-room safe, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities and private bathrooms are standard. We particularly enjoyed the bathrooms which were remarkably spacious and have free-standing clawfoot tubs, Victorian style high-level toilets and sinks with exposed plumbing giving an old-fashioned, luxurious feel to a modern bathroom.

Rooms are divided into suites and premium rooms and each is decorated with a different colour theme and furnished in Barbara’s classical Italian style. We preferred the suites on the second floor as they are larger and a bit quieter than the downstairs rooms. The Green Suite was our favourite and gets beautiful sunlight in the afternoon, while the Orange Suite is also a nice spacious option. The Violet and beige rooms are slightly smaller. Overall it feels like you are staying in a friend’s beautifully appointed house rather than just a hotel.

A continental breakfast is served in the room each morning and is simple yet delicious. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit and muesli and a selection of cakes and breads as well as fabulous Italian espresso are served on a floral tablecloth for a great start to the day.

The Quinta Miraflores is without a doubt one of our favourite places to stay in Lima. The staff is lovely and willing to help with anything you might need for very personalized service. Rooms are spacious, bright and airy, the breakfast is great and you leave feeling refreshed and well taken care of. Exactly what a good hotel is all about in our book!

Top things to see and do in the Miraflores district of Lima

The Westin Lima is located in the district of San Isidro, the main financial and business zone of Peru. While slightly outside the main tourist zones of Miraflores and Barranco we couldn’t leave the Westin out of our list of the best hotels in Lima as it is without a doubt one of the best choices if you are looking for five star luxury with the renowned Westin service.

This is a behemoth of a hotel with 301 rooms and was built with the high-end business traveller in mind. The imposing building was designed by Peruvian born architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia and until 2011 was the tallest building in Peru.

Every element of this hotel is sleek and elegant, from the bronze and gold finishes throughout the hotel to the luxurious bathrooms in every room. Lighting is soft and colours are muted browns and beiges that lend a relaxing feel to this hotel.

We loved the focus on well-being that is found throughout the hotel particularly in terms of food. They have a great super food menu which offers nutritious, light and tasty meals and is a refreshing change from the ubiquitous club sandwich on most room service menus. They also have the fine-dining restaurant ‘Maras‘ on site, headed up by renowned Peruvian chef Rafael Piqueras if you want to try some fabulous Peruvian fusion during your stay. Westin workout rooms are available which come with a treadmill or bike if you want to train in your room and their heavenly beds are just that – heavenly!

The rooms themselves are comfortable and spacious and fully equipped for connectivity with the outside world with a large desk space. Bathrooms are large and have a bathtub and shower. All rooms have a good views of Lima but do try to book a room on one of the upper floors which are quieter and have the best views.

The Westin Lima boasts the largest urban spa in South America and Peru with their 19,000 square foot Heavenly Spa which has a fabulous hydro-therapy circuit, 17 treatment rooms, a fully-equipped gym and a heated indoor pool.

The hotel is definitely geared more towards high-flying executives but is also a great option for leisure travellers looking for five star luxury and amenities in an international brand hotel. We arrived at the hotel at the end of a long trip around Peru and it was the perfect place to wind down in a bit of luxury after our journey.

This 82-suite, five star Miraflores Park offers spacious rooms with large marble and granite bathrooms complete with tubs, wifi, mini-bar, lounge area and desk. Rooms also have Illy coffee makers, Ipod docks and a complimentary shoe shine service. Rooms on floors 3, 8, 9 and 10 have recently been refurbished and are luxurious yet extremely comfortable with excellent linen and beds. Three garden suites have private garden terraces which offer a nice setting to relax in. All the executive rooms have access to the Executive Lounge with spectacular views of Lima as well as a business centre, shower and complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day.

The Zest Spa offers massages and other body treatments and is complimented by the roof top heated horizon pool with fabulous views of the Pacific Ocean. The rooftop terrace was in fact one of our favourite things about this hotel and is a stunning setting for evening sunset cocktails with spectacular views of Lima.

Don’t forget to book a table at the excellent Tragaluz restaurant which specializes in Peruvian, Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. We loved the black butter grilled scallops and the tuna with thai curry linguini was spectacular! For a more decadent option book afternoon tea served in the Belo Bar for a nice treat after a day of exploring.

Most of the Miraflores Park clientele are business travelers so there is definitely a more formal, business-like feel but we really enjoyed the chic, elegant vibe of this hotel.  This is a great choice for a place to stay in Lima if you are looking for an excellent location and fabulous service with all the amenities and services a brand like Belmond offers.

Hotel Casa Cielo in Miraflores has become our new favourite budget place to stay when passing through Lima. Located in the heart of the Miraflores district, Casa Cielo is just three blocks from Kennedy Park and eight blocks from the Larcomar shopping centre and seafront. It is the perfect location to explore the Miraflores district on foot.

Owners Steve and Rocina have put their heart and souls into creating this purpose built twenty room hotel and it shows as Casa Cielo has quickly earned a strong following since its opening last year.

The hotel has a sleek modern, minimalist design that feels airy and bright.  Rooms are spotless and decorated in a simple style. Grey, navy and beige tones with soft bed-side lighting are the perfect antidote after a busy day sightseeing in Lima. Rooms all come with Wi-Fi, safety deposit boxes, cable TV, wardrobes and a desk area as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

Bathrooms have good, strong showers and again are spotless. The courtesy slippers were a welcome, unexpected touch for a hotel in this price bracket. Staff is friendly and helpful and will help you book transport from the airport and tours while you are in town. Breakfast is continental, included in the room rates and served on the roof-top terrace in a bright, refectory style setting.

Colourful versions of the traditional ‘pucara’ bull found on rooftops throughout Peru as a symbol of abundance and prosperity are hung behind the reception desk adding a splash of colour and playfulness to the lobby.

The quality to price ratio of this hotel is second to none and hotel Casa Cielo is definitely one of our top picks for budget hotels under $100 in Lima at the moment.

• The king and queen rooms with balconies are our favourite rooms in this hotel. They are both brighter and larger than the other rooms and the balcony adds a nice bit of extra space although it does look over the street so can be a bit noisy if you want to sit outside.

 

• They also have a large family suite available that has a king bed, bunk beds for the kids and two bathrooms as well as a lounge area which is great for families.

The JW Marriott Hotel Lima is located right in the heart of Miraflores and in terms of location is probably one of the best choices for luxury accommodation in Lima with stunning views of the coastline and Lima’s fabulous sunsets.

Situated just opposite the Larcomar shopping mall, everything you need in terms of restaurants, shopping and sightseeing is a short walk away. The hotel itself is a 25 story building with 300 rooms and has all the trappings and level of service you would expect from the global Marriott chain.

Rooms while slightly old-fashioned décor-wise are extremely comfortable with great bedding, espresso machines, ipod docks and large, sumptuous bathrooms. One of our favourite features of this hotel was the expansive view of the coastline from our oceanfront room. The roof top pool with the same excellent views makes it feel like you are almost at a seaside resort rather than in the heart of one of South America’s largest cities!

The La Vista Restaurant offers good quality buffet meals and is renowned for its Sunday brunch menu and the JW Sushi Ceviche Bar  in the lobby does a great pisco sour and good sushi in a buzzing atmosphere particularly at night.

This is definitely a hotel geared primarily at business travellers with all the amenities a business traveller could need, but it is also an excellent base for those wishing to spend a few days exploring Lima from a centrally located global hotel chain with excellent service.

An über-modern, slick and clean design throughout, decorated with rotating art exhibits from the nearby Enlace Art Gallery and simple, comfortable, spotless rooms equipped with flat screen TV’s, Wi-Fi, telephone, desk space and a well-designed bathroom complete with Zen toiletries make this a great spot for those on a budget looking for a decent place to stay in Lima.

Don’t be alarmed if you are given one of the downstairs rooms next to the kitchen/dining area as all rooms are sound proofed so even when breakfast is being served just outside your door you won’t hear a thing. They even provide ear plugs for light sleepers!

The other big draw for this hotel is the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff led by Elizabeth that provide great information on what to see and do in Lima including the insider track to what’s happening  in Barranco. They can organise airport transfers, provide hair dryers and ironing boards and tea and coffee is available 24 hours a day. A good continental breakfast is included in the rate and guests can use the microwave and fridge in the kitchenette.
